My PSA on Oct 17 ‘25

Posted by johndavis60 @johndavis60, 3 days ago

My PSA is now at .06 as of today.
I have reached undetectable level in 2 months from starting Firmagon, 1 month from starting abiraterone, and I still have 3 weeks of radiation to go. Are there any metrics or prognostications about the speed of decline in PSA. What could it mean? Thanks!!

I do not know the answer - just wanted to congratulate 😃, and may your PSA stay that low forever 🍀🙌🌟 !!! Only 3 more weeks !? Wow, you did great John - just amazing success all around 🧸 ! I guess one more fun cruise is around the corner ; ) !!!

The decline depends on how high you started. For most people within 2 to 3 months, it becomes undetectable.

I don't know the specifics, but I understand that a fast decline in PSA after starting treatment is a very promising sign. ❤️

Thanks surfer!!!
I remember reading somewhere that it was thought that radiation and ADT weren’t that effective for IDPCa and Cribriform, but so far so good. And I agree, I think another cruise is warranted. 🙂

Yes , I read couple of scientific papers about that and that is why my husband like you had RP and maybe that is the reason you have such great results ! 👍😎

Maybe cells that were left behind are not of that kind since gland is always mixture of different gleasons dispersed throughout.

Also, when they are not hidden in the gland and are in a small numbers they are an easy target 😃👍 !!! Whatever is the reason the therapy is working and going on wonderfully 👯‍♀️💗- yeayyyy .

All in all - let us know where and when you will be cruising 🥰👍, I am so happy for you !

Thanks Jeff, hopefully will stay low for a long time. Not having any side effects from ADT or Abiraterone that I notice yet.

Good beginning to Salvage Radiation Treatment.

My PSA was checked in Mar 2023 near the beginning of treatment and after a month of ADT my PSA was < .01

Then I entered Dark Territory.

I was next tested in Nov 2023, 6 mos following completion of radiation (and that was 5 mos after end of ADT), and then tested at < .02 undetectable by ultrasensitive PSA.

PSA has remained < .02 for almost 2 years.

Very grateful.

Layman summary: Great start w/ ADT controlling testosterone and PSA. Your best guide will be results following completion of radiation and elimination of ADT from your system at some time after treatment. Waiting is hard; however the radiation and ADT combination take some time to work and came through for me and hopefully will for you.

Best wishes.

Interesting you say you’re not having side effects after two months. When they gave me a Six month Lupron shot in 2014 I had no idea what it was, Or how it would affect me. I don’t remember having any side effects at all from it. When I went on it permanently in 2017 the side effects hit me pretty hard.

You should try to get off Firmagon as soon as possible. People get some real pains from having that shot in their stomach. Orgovyx Is a lot easier since it’s a pill you take once a day. Even a 3 month Lupron shot in the hip is much easier to handle than Firmagon. And you don’t have to go back every month

Typo (not material) - Mar 2023 PSA < .1 (not .01)
