My daughter has breast cancer
My daughter has breast cancer. This coming after I had been through my own battle, which began in 2020. When I finished chemo, surgery, and multiple surgeries after that, it was 2 1/2 years later. And then came the torrent of my own very personal and very emotional aftermath. While working through my own sadness, grieving my old self, bc (before cancer), I learned of her diagnosis in the late summer of 2024. She's not even 40. She has six children and a wonderful husband, a lovely career.
No genetic link, but devastating diagnoses for us both. I had hoped her journey would complete after the first year, but she's struggling to finish the protocol. Only a few months left of the harder part. I encourage her to stay strong and it will all soon be a memory.
I remind myself to claim the victory of her healing from the disease, even as I did my own. . . and yet in the evening hours, or when things are quiet, my heart gets heavy . . . heavy with the weight of it all.
Going through the journey myself was challenging enough, but sharing that experience with my daughter can be overwhelming at times. I vacillate between moving forward, victorious in prayer, and believing all will be fine. And then, there are times that the still moments get the best of me, and I ache down in my core.
Lord, that none would suffer this horrible disease. . . that all would be victorious. That You would make something beautiful out of something so harsh and terrible. Believing that You can truly make something wonderful and bring joy is our HOPE. Give my daughter strength and health of mind, body, and spirit, so she can be an overcomer. And let us all sing Your praises, even in the midst of such hardship. Restore her, Lord, as only You can do. And encourage all of us who have become warriors on this breast cancer road. Amen.

I’m on the journey with you. BC in 2013 then back in 2020, but I’m doing well. BC has a lot of members, but still challenging for each individual to go through. Even harder on a mom’s heart.

1 ReactionI'm very touched by your relationship with your daughter. Mine, my only child, has been very supportive of me in this arena since I got a rare aggressive breast cancer three years ago. I worry about her various heath concerns, at age 36. She was in a disabling car wreck at 16 and I've been hugely relieved that she was able to go on and get married, have a child, work in a family business, and more. So I know how much your daughter is benefitting from your love. And do take care of yourself too as much as you can.

2 ReactionsWhen our children suffer, no matter the age or the cause, as Moms we suffer more.
I said your prayer with you for your beloved daughter.
I know first hand of your heartache, as I am suffering with my adult son and his serious problems.
As we fight our own cancer, troubles, pain and heartaches do not stop with loved ones.
Continue to hang tight onto your faith. It WILL get you through it all.
Let go and place your burdens in HIS HANDS. Give it all to God - which will give you a measure of peace.
And, as stated already, please take care of yourself too. You must. For your own sake and for your daughter.
Lots of prayers and blessings are coming your way.
