Tamoxifen and have had horrible acid indigestion: Anyone had this?

Posted by deamo5339 @deamo5339, Nov 8, 2021

I was put on Tamoxifen and have had horrible acid indigestion. I stopped and it went away. Started again and it now came back again. This is so bad that it is making my throat very red and it worries me. Has anyone had this before? Why do Dr's never think there are side effects? UGH

No, I never had anything like this on tamoxifen, with metastatic cancer it is usually the other that drug that gets to your stomach. What other drug do they have you on?

Your question says metastatic BC. I certainly would be asking more questions of my doctor than about acid from tamoxifen which could certainly be treated with a host of proton pump inhibitors available both as prescribed and over the counter. Metastatic BC is a killer left untreated. I would be asking tons of questions, and sooner than later. Do you have an appt. set up? Here are some questions I would start with. Where are your Mets? What is he doing to treat them? How is he planning to monitor them? What are my expectations of successful treatment?

I see my Onc regularly every 3 weeks. No problems as far as that goes. My question was about Tamoxifen side effects.

Sorry about the rant, hearing you were on nothing but tamoxifen, I wrongly assumed you were not being treated for Mets, but now realizing you have another thread talking about bone biopsy. I see that you are just not there yet. You may need to be forceful, or use the nurse to get help for the acid but truly proton pump inhibitors are available over the counter. I had this with chemo drugs.
