What treatment helps for feet neuropathy?
Hello,
I am looking for years for some medical treatment to ease my neuropathic pain in my feet. It is getting worse especially at night: pain and burning of my soles, numbness and tingling.
What I am taking now, with modest results, are Naproxen and Magnesium Glycinate.
What about you? What is your medication for flair ups?

Hi @corneliagd, I don't have the burning but do have the swollen, numb and tingling feet with my neuropathy. I also have lymphedema so have to wear compression socks to help with the swelling. Not sure if you have seen these discussions on burning feet but thought I would share them so you can scan and read what others have shared helps while you wait for members to respond.

Not sure if you are familiar with the Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy but they have a great YouTube channel where they keep all of their webinars. Some nights, after laying down for an hour or two, my feet will burn. As you have experienced, it is very painful. Someone in one of these neuropathy groups suggested a cream that is readily available, and not overly expensive, that I purchased from Amazon: Company was Globe and the product is Capsaicin 0.1%. It's a high potency pain relief cream. I use it anytime I wake up with an unbearable burning pain on my feet, especially the bottom. You rub the cream into your feet, between your toes and on top of your feet (if it's burning there also). I also rub into my calves if they are itching or burning. Make sure that you wash your hands well after applying because if you touch your eyes it will burn like the dickens! Within minutes my burning stops! I also wear tight sox before I go to bed and that will also help. Good luck!
Thank you very much John, very useful information. I will check the links for sure.
The treatment depends also on the diagnostic. My feet neuropathy is “mecanic” due to my fallen high arch now pressing on my front feet nerves. Not much to be done except taking pain meds and wearing orthotics. But maybe somebody in this group has new ideea/info.
Pure peppermint extract sprayed onto the soles of your feet has really helped me whenever I'm having a really bad evening. It only lasts for a few minutes, but it means no pain/burning. Repeated applications don't offer the same results, so be prepared. It's available on Amazon.
I have lost feeling in my feet and hands and wear compression socks to help low blood pressure. Neuropathy slowly developed after chemotherapy for lymphoma and taking medication for AFIB. Never asked my cardiologist about my neuropathy. But, once in a while I apply menthol salve to feet and wear socks at night. It seems to rehydrate my feet and it is better for awhile.
Hi! Anyone has taken Naproxen for neuropathic pain in feet? I am taking 10 days a month, twice a day and o admit I am getting a modest relief. Also at night when the pain is present I am using the spray Biofreeze to numb my feet for almost one hour or until I go to sleep.
My mom swore by Vicks vaporub on her feet at bed with socks on
I use naproxen every day, but along with the neuropathy in my feet, I have arthritis in more joints than I care to mention. I use diclofenac gel(Volteran) and lidocaine lotion on my feet a couple of times a day.

I also found a reference that might be helpful for answering your question:
"Traditional painkillers used alone, especially non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), are often ineffective at treating neuropathic pain."

Regarding Naproxen, my GP advised me to use it only 10 days a month as it has a lot of side effects. I have feet arthritis too and I try to manage the pain with Tylenol and RUB A535 cream. Not a day without the excitement of pain… somewhere 😃
