Median Arcuate Ligament Syndrome (MALS)
I am looking for other patients that have been diagnosed with Median Arcuate Ligament Syndrome. Although it is caused by compression of the celiac artery many people experience abdominal pain after eating, diarrhea, food avoidance. Usually the first doctors they see are GI doctors. It is a diagnosis that is made after everything else is ruled out. I am curious if anyone else has had surgery?

Thank you @jmmb !! I am fading quickly so that would mean the world to me!!
@susanf , what did you do? I have been waiting for a couple of days. Would you be open to finding the list of surgeons and posting that list here? I am pretty bad off and need to make a decision if I can stay here in San Diego or if I need to make my way up to Los Angeles. I would be so forever grateful!!

Thank you got in to one of the Facebook support groups.
@pfpurple I can give you some of the names. I know there are quite a few. I will try to get them to you today.
@susanf I am not sure. I never had a facebook account until I joined. there are two groups, Mals Awareness and Mals Pals, I tried both. I heard from Mals awareness first the same day. Mals Pals not for awhile and then I tried again. I guess I did it wrong some how on the first try. All I know is to post you need to be on their home page, so I guess you hit the join button and then make the request. I am sorry, I am still not good at it. I will look into it some more in the next few days.
Thank you @jmmb . I haven’t heard back from the MALS Pals Facebook page yet. Is there any chance you (or someone here) could look at the list of surgeons there and tell me who, if anyone, is in San Diego? I have called Dr Bilchik in LA but he is out of town for a few weeks. If there isn’t anyone super experienced in San Diego, I would be interested in others in the Los Angeles area. Thank you!!
You know, the first time I joined I didn't get a response right away. I don't know what I did wrong. I then did it again and got it right away. Try it again. Do it from their home page, maybe that is why.
How long does it take to get approved on the Facebook site? I asked to join a couple of days ago and have not received an approval. I am seeing a surgeon on Tuesday of next week for a consult and would really like to talk with a few people first.
My head is spinning right now and I have a lot of concerns/questions about surgeries people have had.
Susan
@susanf, I have a question for you if you don't mind. Are you going to a consult with a vascular surgeon? MALS involves the ligament, mesenteric ischemia can be different, or a result of mals. The most important thing is you want to make sure you have a knowledgeable surgeon if indeed it is MALS.
