PLEASE FOLLOW THIS LINK..RESEARCH APPARENTLY HAS INDICATED A CONNECTION BETWEEN PROSTATE CANCER AND A NUMBER OF ELEMENTS. AFTER READING OTHER ARTICLES ON THIS MATTER, I NOTED ON COMMON "ELEMENT IN ONE'S DIET".
NOTE AS: Sulforaphane
This compound is an isothiocyanate produced when the glucoraphanin in cruciferous vegetables is chopped or chewed.
Foods: Broccoli, especially young sprouts, is considered the most significant dietary source. Other cruciferous vegetables containing sulforaphane include:
Broccoli sprouts
Brussels sprouts
Cabbage
Cauliflower
Kale
Bok choy
Mechanism: Sulforaphane promotes the degradation of beta-catenin and inhibits the Wnt/beta-catenin signaling pathway, which is often overactive in some cancers.
THERE ARE MANY FIRMS TO INCLUDE AMAZON THAT SELL SULFORAPHANE IN PILL OR POWDER FORM. Something to ask your doctor. READ THE ARTICLE THEN DO "AI" ON THE NET FOR MORE AND DETAILED INFORMATION. REMEMBER, KNOWING "ALL" MAKES FOR BETTER AND MORE INFORMED DECISIONS.

Interesting read. It would be helpful to have a blood test or lab test, which at the moment, it seems, unavailable, that would allow one to test the foods or medications that inhibit spom121 in a way that allows us to more accurately adjust what we swallow, to help prevent the proteins impact for treatment or reduce biological re-occurrence.

My latest batch of broccoli sprouts attached…almost ready to harvest.

Stainless steel trays, broccoli seeds (I add a few radish seeds for a zestier taste) and rinse twice a day….harvest in 5 days….start a new batch immediately for continuous supply.

Been growing and enjoying my own sprouts for two years. The most economical, freshest way to enjoy sprouts!

Not a fan of supplements….

IMHO if one is going to bother at all….go for whole food…there are thousands of “other compounds” in whole food that supplements can’t reproduce….and may be important…

That said, I don’t know that even specialized “whole foods” (by themselves) make all that much difference…. where are the randomized control trials???

That’s why, if one is trying to slow progression, I’m more convinced by studies like the ERASE trial.

The research was done at Mayo, so there is a great deal of credibility with the study and assumptions. Proton radiation for Gleason 3 plus 3, PSA: 6.47 at Loma Linda Hospital, a pioneer in proton radiation therapy. Spent 2.5 months or 50 morning visits to the "proton machine". For seven (7) years, PSA was below 1.0, then PSA began to rise. Both the PET scan and MRI in May of 2025 was not conclusive to the recurrence of the disease. Having had 15 years to read and research this very common male disease does provide a base of conclusions, to wit: every man is different as to the effect of the disease. The PET scan with the injection of the chemical is designed to attach to high-protein mass cells, which are normally found with cancer cells. The Gleason score is a subjective assessment of the cell structure and the deterioration of that cell because of the cancer. The article from Mayo research implies that some chemicals, perhaps natural, can inhibit the cancer cell growth. The article indicates Sulforaphane is such a natural "chemical".

I just bought a product high in sulforaphana in pill form and will take it for several months daily and measure the PSA from the last result.

Read the Mayo Clinic study again and use AI with word phrases to better understand the intent and meaning. It takes a while, but it's worth the time. If you have communication with your physical, ask about this study.or better yet, send him/her the link. If anything not said here, pass along to the rest of the group members. Cheers!

I found this suplement to be a very good product from a reputable company. I'm not making any claims about the affect it will have with prostate cancer but know it can't hurt.

Found the original research paper and ran it through perplexity.ai to find its connection to sulforaphane.

This research paper indicates that sPOM121 boosts the expression of β-catenin, leading to PCa tumor progression and immune evasion.

Inhibiting the sPOM121/β-catenin axis, in preclinical prostate cancer models, halted tumor aggressiveness and strengthened antitumor immunity.

Apparently, Sulforaphane also acts as a Wnt/β-catenin pathway inhibitor, thus the connection you suggest.

However, this particular research paper did not directly investigate sulforaphane, much less suggest a dosage.

Upon further investigation, I found an unrelated Human Clinical Trial investigating the impact of sulfuraphane in BCR. A short AI summary is outlined below:

• Formulation: Sulforaphane-rich broccoli sprout extract capsules (each 50 µmol sulforaphane).

I like the taste of broccoli sprouts and I started eating one cup per day about 3 months after I was diagnosed in October 2023.

My PSA level dropped from 7.8 (May 2023 - prebiopsy) to 5.8 by February 2024.

Of course, I implemented many diet and exercise changes in the first 3 months after diagnosis, so there is likely to be multiple explanations.

My latest PSA level was 5.76, unchanged over 16 months.

As there appears to be some solid science behind sulfuraphane and now a potential mechanism, I’ll have to add some credit to my broccoli sprouts and HIT to explain my slowing PSA velocity…

@handera Thanks much for the in part validation of the article's intent. And, thanks to Mayo for publishing this health news-worthy study. I happened to see the headline on "Health Google news". I have received my order of the capsule form with its ingredients as you mentioned. I will look to see my PSA in the coming months stabilizing or on a downward path. My personal take on the overall implication includes the faint assumption that some food groups with their inherent ingredients assist in the body's immune system to inhibit the growth of cancer cells. I might add that when diagnosed in 2010, my Gleason score was 3 plus 3. Very slow growth of prostate cancer. So many metrics as to overall health, etc, impact greatly any positive reaction to the dietary ingredient inhibiting prostate cancer cell growth.

@dhasper Didn’t eat sprouts, but took DIM supplement with meals, as directed.
Unfortunately, there are no double blind studies on any of these products.
Anecdotal evidence is the best they have and that’s just not good enough.
The only ones I’ve seen thus far are on Turkey Tail mushrooms - done in Japan and the US - and more recently on white button mushrooms; Both showed improved tumor suppression.
Pretty sure the DIM and sulfuraphane studies were done in vitro at the time I used them almost 8 yrs ago.
