Mayo Peripheral Neuropathy department?

Posted by rosaliemarie @rosaliemarie, Jun 24, 2023

My doctor’s NP told me that the Neurology department at Mayo in JAX now has a separate Peripheral Neuropathy department within it. Has anyone consulted with them? If so, what do you think?

@rosaliemarie - I'd check into that, if you are on Medicare, they may not accept. I was 70 and wanted to go to JAX and was told that being on Medicare, I had to go to MN. I'd be interested in knowing if they accept over 70 yrs old and on Medicare.

Neurology at Mayo in Phoenix will not see me because I have Medicare! I have to travel from Nevada to Minnesota.

I tried to make an appointment with neurology department at Mayo in Jax and was told they aren’t taking appointments at this time. They put me on a waiting list but if I don’t get called in 3 months I drop off list.

I”m sorry NJ Ed, I should have mentioned that I am already a patient at Mayo and have been for 20 years. And, yes, I think you are right that they are currently not taking any Medicare patients.

Mayo Jacksonville takes my Medicare. I have Regular Medicare .. some refer to it as Blue Card or Blue Medicare. It is not the many advertised Medicare that includes drug coverage. I also have a supplemental insurance that covers drugs and most of what Medicare does not. Go to the Mayo Clinic website for more information on what insurances they take. https://www.mayoclinic.org/patient-visitor-guide/billing-insurance/insurance/accepted-insurance
