Many diagnoses, but is it connected to 1 issue?

Hi
I was born with Acrodermatitis Enteropathica.... Basically i don't absorb zinc but also other minerals. i also have been diagnosed with migraines, gastroparisis (my stomach is parallelized and i have a simulator so it will work), fibromyalgia, Fetal Alcohol syndrome.
I know very little about family history. my mom really wants me to go to mayo but i don't even know where to start. i think it all may be associated with Mal-absorbson issues that were never caught because AE is very rare and in the 80's nobody new anything. I was given zinc for a while and everything cleared up. but now 44 and i'm getting the same issues i had when i was born and more diagnoses and i'm not sure if there even right.
thank you!

@mammapanda6 I have issues with eating gluten and food allergies. If you have Celiac disease related to gluten in grains, it does cause malabsorption and malnutrition. The intestines loose some of the absorption area. There isn’t a cure other than avoiding gluten in foods.

20 years ago, this was not so well known as it is now. I went gluten free then when no doctor would listen to me or test me for this and it improved my health immensely. That may be something to consider if you haven’t done that already.

@mammapanda6

If interested in going to Mayo to get a comprehensive evaluation the place to start is at:

You can self-refer or you can ask your current provider to refer you.

There are 3 main locations; Rochester MN, Jacksonville, FL and Phoenix/Scottsdale, Arizona.

Hi @mammapanda6, I'd like to add my welcome. As @roch suggests, you can contact Mayo Clinic to request an appointment or you can ask your doctor to submit a physician referral.

You mention that you don't know where to start. If you would like to refer yourself, start with filling out the intake form or calling the Mayo Clinic location of your preference. Both can be found here: http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63

When filling out the form, you will be asked questions about your location (within the US or international), your main concern and insurance coverage (optional). These are short answer questions to schedule a phone appointment with the scheduler. When you talk with the scheduler, you will be able to give more information and elaborate on the short answers. They can also help determine the best department to start with since you have several different yet related diagnoses.
