Try Prunelax, it is incredibly effective and works every time without fail. I’ve suffered for many years and this is the only thing that works perfectly every time. Sold over the counter at most pharmacies, the mini tabs are tiny coated pills, easy to swallow and all natural. I swear by this stuff!!

Me too! I tried all the regular recommendations from the doctor's,..........nothing works like Prunelax for me. I've used both the mini tabs and the Max Strength. For me, I do have to take 4 mini's or 2 1/2 Max Strength. I am 70 years old, in great shape, and have suffered and dealt with this my entire life. Someone on this site recommended Prunelax and I've been SO MUCH better ever since. So many years unnecessarily uncomfortable, ill, etc. because I only did what the doctors recommended. I still appreciate our doctors but I don't think they look at the individual nor think outside of the "normal protocol". I am SO grateful for the people on this site that share their experiences because it is SO beneficial to us all.
Re-visiting fiber - A lot of vegan physicians recommend a whole foods diet with both soluble and insoluble fiber as more helpful than medications to reduce constipation and the subsequent straining that contributes to hemorrhoids, varicose veins, strokes, rectoceles, cystoceles, hernias and probably even more.
The ones I've discovered are Dr. Will Bulsiewicz, Dr. Michael Greger, Dr. John McDougall and Dr. Mark Hyman. What have others thought of these guys? Are there are others who have offered good simple suggestions?
The damage I have done to myself the past 60 years is largely irreversible, but it is good not to increase it.
@harithakur - Welcome to Mayo Connect!
Can you tell us a little more : is it chronic or recent?
What are doing now for relief? Has a doctor treated you for it and prescribed medication?
Do you have any chronic illnesses?
You are definitely not alone- so many people are struggling to control it. I hope some other Connect members will get involved and share information.
The first thing to do for constipation is to drink more water! (pace yourself during the day, most in morning and early afternoon)
If you drink a lot of coffee, realize that it's a diuretic and therefore removes water from your body. They say for every cup of coffee you drink you need to drink a cup of water just to replace what you lost - in addition to the amount of water you should be drinking. If more water doesn't help then try prunes, fiber, fruits, vegetables... Also, exercise (even just walking) is very important!
For the past 10 years, I have had severe constipation problems. I tried many medicines, and I have gone through 3 times endoscopy but discovered nothing. From 2015 till now my constipation problem couldn't be solved. To make it worse now I'm having multiple internal haemorrhoids due to this constipation. I don't know why I'm having this constipation problem. Many people suggested many things like changing diets, taking a lot of fibre intake, reducing stress, quit smoking. I burp a lot and do have acid reflux as well but now it is getting better. What is the best solution for my constipation?
Have anyone who suffers from constipation has heard about Magnesium Oxide? I understand it comes in capsules. I take Myralax but I heard it is not good for your kidneys if you take it frequently so I am stopping it. Any information about it will be appreciated. Thank you

Hi @naiviv, I have not tried magnesium oxide for my running battle with constipation but there is an older discussion started by @ellamster that you might want to read through to learn what has been shared.

I'm trying to get my constipation under control for an upcoming inguinal hernia surgery and have been taking Miralax daily but still have issues. I recently found a member in another discussion that mentioned Heather's Tummy Fiber Organic Acacia Senegal for IBS - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002ON8DU. I ordered some and it really has helped more than anything else that I have tried.

Thank you. As a matter of fact my PCP told me to take Myralax instead of Magnesium oxide which could cause potential diarrhea. I will take Myralax for a while to see how it works. Also someone mentioned Colace but it is not mentioned too often. Thanks for the information
Can Benefiber be a good substitute for Miralax that was Prescribed to be taken daily? Can it be used while taking Miralax ? Mayo suggestions re daily schedule, diet, exercise all very helpful

It has always been a problem. Sometimes worse than other times. I take Mirlax, eat fruit and a salad everyday. I try to avoid bread.
