Lumbar (flank) Hernia

Has anyone had a lumbar (flank) hernia and how was it handled? I have had a hiatal hernia and bowel obstruction surgeries in the past but my surgeon does not want to operate on the lumbar hernia as its location will not allow for proper removal/correction and closure. Thank you.
