Lower abdomen pain

Posted by Mari @marip, Oct 1, 2023

Past couple of weeks I've been having constipation on and off. I also been having pain in lower spine when getting up from sitting I think having problems with the bowels acted up around the same time as the back. Last few days been having lower abdomen pain going across the abdomen. What does colon cancer pain feel like?

There is absolutely no pain with colon cancer until it's too late. I had a complete proctocollectomy at the age of 38, my brother died at 32 of colon cancer. A proctocollectomy is complete removal of the large intestine. I can tell you that I had cancer in seven places that they saw on the colonoscopy, when they did the pathology after my colon was removed - there was cancer in many other places that they didn't see and they told me this is why they question colonoscopies in some instances like mine where they don't see the cancer. I had absolutely no symptoms except for being anemic. I was also very lucky because none of the tumors had broke through the colon wall. If I would have waited 6 more months the outcome would have been completely different. I'm very fortunate!!

What you're describing could be many things. It may be related to each other but it may not be. You should go see your doctor. This may just be very bad constipation, and it may have nothing to do with your colon. Many things wrong with other organs can cause back pain, including appendicitis, kidney problems, the pancreas. I recommend you go see your primary care physician and get a blood panel done, and describe to them your problems. They will recommend what they believe they should do. They may just give you a CT scan to see if they can see anything. If these problems get worse, or you're in pain, please go to the hospital. They will definitely do a CT scan and a blood work up.
Hope that helps!
