Low-Level Pain in Nonoperative Knee

Posted by flaredhead @flaredhead, Nov 5, 2022

I had TKR on my right knee about 18 weeks ago, and recovery is going well. But I have been experiencing intermittent low-level pain in my nonoperative knee (left), specifically in the area that runs over the top of the knee. It does not feel like joint pain. Could this be a strained ligament or tendon in the nonoperative knee, as the result of shifting my weight when standing and walking to protect the operative knee during recovery? If so, should I consult my surgeon or will it recover on its own?

@flaredhead Just a guess - based on personal experience - surgery, recovery, and possibly use of a walker or cane, has changed your gait since surgery.
If you are still receiving PT ask your therapist for a gait assessment. You may need to be retrained how to walk now that the bad knee is fixed. Back ache/pain or spasms can be another indication of this.
Can you get another PT appointment?
