Trying to understand blood labs: low Abs Lymph Aut

Posted by Me @janicebeckett, Jul 21, 2023

What does it mean if my husband's CBC Abs Lymph Auto came back low and he has large amount of blood in urine and abnormal UA RBC and low HCT?

@janicebeckett Good morning and welcome to Mayo Connect. We are a support community of patients and caregivers, and not medical professionals.
I am going assume that this is the lab "findings" on his patient portal and you haven't talked to the doctor yet. To find out what this means, you need to speak to the doctor or their staff. They ordered these tests for a specific reason, and interpreting the results is part of the diagnostic process.
I hope you can call and get the information you need, or schedule a followup appointment.

If he’s on antibiotics for a UTI, that’s a good place to start. If his symptoms disappear a UTI may be all that’s going on. That’s what the first glance of his labs are suggesting. Does he have a follow up appointment?

Yes. With his primary Dr on Tuesday. Thank you so much for answering. His blood pressure is still all over the place and low. We will talk to Dr about that too. I just wondered if anyone knew why the blood work would be that and his low blood pressure. He now is getting fevers.

A fever can be a symptom of a UTI so that should subside with the antibiotics. But don’t be hesitant to call his doctor if his symptoms get worse or you don’t see an improvement within a few days. Occasionally there may need to be another antibiotic. tried. Have your list of questions ready for his doctor. I hope he feels better soon. How many days has he been on the antibiotics?
