Long term memory issues after chemo and taking tamoxifen

Posted by Arvind Natarajan @malebreastcancer47, Feb 8 4:13pm

I found out recently for a task I do routinely, I needed to ask for help on how to do it. And in another scenario at work, I gave a wrong answer to a question that I knew the correct answer to. I remembered a day later.

I had breast cancer in 2023, then chemo and now taking Tamoxifen. I live alone, self care, no one to lean on, no fam, no parents, no friends. Just me. Unless someone gives me feedback, I don’t know when show gaps.

Anyone has similar issues. Its really worrying me, hope I don’t lose my job.

Bring this up to your oncologist. As women reach menopause and the body stops producing some hormones memory becomes an issue for many. I wonder if the hormone suppressants in the tamoxifen are causing your issues too.

I would definitely talk to your oncologist about it. Three years out, you should still be seeing your doctor about every 6 months. Best of luck and stay strong

I go to Mayo twice a year. I shared with them cognitive decline last year, they gave suggestions for brain activities. Will send them a note.
