rmk1157: I am sorry that you are going through this difficult time. I too have stage 4 cancer (Neuroendocrine Carcinoid Tumor) with liver metastases. After 5 months seeing Oncologist this is what I have learned: we only need20% liver to function; we can help by abstaining from alcohol, Ibeprophen type meds, all foods difficult to digest (see Liver Cancer for diets) and in my case I get a monthly injection of SomatulineDepot treatment that seems to be helping. My case is terminal… just as yours, but I have hope to continue to live a good life and perhaps die of old age. Have tests done for Oncologist to be able to help you and I hope there is a treatment that will improve your prognosis.
