Liver and lungs
I read about someone whose prostate cancer had spread to liver. Another case spread to lungs. Anyone know how prevalent visceral organ spread is? Is it considered rare? I need to stop reading stuff like this …. Ugh.

After attending four years of weekly advanced prostate cancer meetings at ancan.org I have heard of only a couple of cases of it getting to the liver. They can operate it if it’s a small spread, If it is wider spread, then the main treatments are chemo and Pluvicto.
I’ve heard it from at least five or six people with lung metastasis. They appear to grow very slowly and ADT and ARSI drugs can shrink them for some people. They don’t seem to be one of the things that kills people from what I have seen, they just sort of hang around.
I’m not a doctor so I haven’t seen a multitude of these cases and been able to see how they are treated over time. They are extremely difficult to biopsy.
Thanks Jeff! I see my MO in a couple weeks so I can ask her as well.
My husband has it in his lungs! (Not liver) and lymph nodes, outside the prostate, bones, pelvis, spine and I forgot where else.
No pain though!
He's doing ADT pills and ADT shots and now chemo, the chemo is because it's all over his body I think.
He was diagnosed with stage 4 right when it was found and it seemed like he lit up like a Christmas tree on the PET scan! After starting the ADT shot and later pills, he faint cough went away, so I'm praying that his lungs are clear now, we don't know until he's done with chemo and they'll do another PET scan.
we know it's NOT in the liver because when first diagnosed, he freaked out and everyone and their friends and google suggested a bunch of supplements, and my husband took lots of things, to the point of wrecking his liver (blood test showed) he also got a liver ultrasound and it showed everything was fine, at that point he was only getting the monthly Firmagon shots but needed to start Zytiga, but can't if the liver is shot! Anyways it scared him enough to quit all the supplements and his liver healed itself over time and he was able to start Zytiga and now chemo too and the liver is still fine!
It doesn't sound good if it ever spreads to the liver!!
I hope your husband does well with his treatments. I just started Firmagon and will be starting zytiga in the near future. This prostate cancer business is BS.
I'm sure you probably guessed we're not "doctor goers" much. So it's really hard to trust them, we've been like this even before covid...long story.
But we're pinned against a wall and have to "trust the process"
In my husband's case, statistics say 30% make it 5 years.
Though he's rather young, for and healthy otherwise we pray he'll last longer!
We have 4 kids, 2 are early adults, our youngest is 9! I surely don't want to be a widow soon! My in-laws passed away last fall and my mom 2 weeks after my husband's diagnosis. I really don't need another set of ashes, I don't want that kind of a collection!
