Light purple blotches on nipple only.

Posted by cjg101 @cjg101, 2 days ago

I have light purple blotches on the top of my nipple almost forming a ring appearance. I’ve been watching it for about 3 weeks and don’t notice changes. I feel mild sensation occasionally. I had breast cancer 2016 on the other breast. It was treated with radiation and a lumpectomy. Also, 5 years on Tamoxifen. I do not have bleeding or cracking in the area. I don’t feel any lumps. Has anyone experienced this?

I would get to your oncologist right away. It could be Angio-Sarcoma, which emerges around 8 years after radiation, and causes lesions among other symptoms. It is very aggressive and needs to be caught early. I hope this is not what is causing your problem -- but better safe than sorry. I would add that it is quite rare, so many if not most cancer doctors have no experience with it.

Welcome @cjg101 I did go read a couple papers, and although they said hematoma or plaques typify RIAS. I am not a medical doctor, and honestly that is what you need. It could be nothing at all or it could be a real problem or anything in between. The fact that you came to connect (I am glad you did) means you are concerned. Getting to a doctor and getting it checked out, either relieves your mind or starts you on the path to healing.💕
We are all here to share what we have experienced and support one another, so you came to the right place. Since none of us go around baring our chests and comparing, this is the perfect place to ask “is this normal?”. I don’t believe I have ever heard this before, I waited a day to respond in hopes that someone else knew something personally.
Can you get in to see your oncologist?
