Levothyroxine and GLP -1

Posted by jennaj03 @jennaj03, 16 hours ago

Has anyone taken any GLP 1, Tirzepatide, Reda peptide or anything similar while taking Levothyroxine? I have had excess weight gain since being on medication and looking at options to help.

I was taking wegovy and synthroid ( allergy to levo) and other than constipation it did work to get weight down . Right now I’m not because of procedures but plan to restart.

Hi, I’ve been taking Levothyroxine for many years and right now I take 100 mcg’s. I’ve been taking Zepbound for about a year+ and have come down from 210# to 183# which was my goal weight, so I’ve been very pleased with my weight loss. I’d certainly run your weight gain by your endocrinologist to assess what is going on. I was originally on Wegovy and only lost a few pounds, but when I changed to Zepbound, the weight just seemed to melt off me. So, you and your physician might consider trying one of the other medications. Just for reference sake, I’m an 80 year old, male.
Best of luck to you, don’t be don’t what happened to you.

I am trying to prevent the weight gain also. I am 1 year out from the end of my chemoradiation. I wanted to stay at my post treatment weight and perhaps even lose some more (138, 5'2" &73). I am now 148. Why?
Because I eat too many starchy/bad carbs. I don't eat enough protein - need 90 g per day....and because my metabolism complex drives a need to nap.
Everyone is different. Everyone's cancer story is different and our recovery is ours to shape.
I am continuing to learn about the missing thyroid, Levothyroxine, and the brain, pituitary gland etc. It's very complex. I understand the answers I get from Gemini. My endocrinologist doesn't explain much.
I know what I have to do. I just have to do it (eat ultra healthy and balanced). I will walk more to offset the naps.
Best wishes for good health.

P.s. there is a link between the weight loss drugs and MTC. If you type your questions into Gemini you can read about it.
