Anyone else had letrozole to treat uterine cancer?
I was just put on letrozole after having 6 round of chemo. I don't hold much hope in this treatment as it has a 9% efficacy rating, but my doc said it has one of the least side effects. Have been taking it for 10 days now and have started bleeding--not spotting. Was wondering if anyone else has had the same experience.

Hello there,
I have stage III serous cell endometrial cancer. After having gone through a total hysterectomy and 6 rounds of carboplatin+paclitaxil. I am now on letrozole. After about 10 days I started bleeding and was wondering if this was normal. Could any one else share their experiences on this drug please?
for more on letrozole, enter it in the search bar. There is more conversation. Look up side effects for the med. I am on it and have not had side effects. Chemo for BC done in late 2021.
I did 5 years on letrozole for breast cancer. Had minor joint pain that was helped by walking more than 20 minutes.
Your doctor would be the one to evaluate whether letrozole is contributing to bleeding. I cannot imagine why that would be but your doctor has the knowledge to interpret this symptom.
You have been through it! Letrozole was very helpful: I am 10 years out knock on wood.
@cookercooker I don't have experience with letrozole however the bleeding would get my attention. By bleeding do you vaginal bleeding? Have you called your doctor?
Yes. And yes. Waiting for a response from him.I'm in Canada so waiting is endless.
@cookercooker, I'm tagging fellow members like @slanepac2024 @doshi @tbkomparda @crowleykid @cjacobs99 who have experience with letrozole (Femara) for endometrial cancer.
Cooker, how are you doing? Has the bleeding stopped?
@cookercooker
I am in a clinical trial and the two drugs are letrozole and verzenio (abimacyclib). They feel that my tumor was estrogen based so they gave me two breast cancer drugs and the tumor went away for the 2nd time. I did not have any issues with letrozole but the verzenio affected my kidneys (GFR). We now think it might be affecting the prednisone which is trying to get rid of the organizing pneumonia. I have had the pneumonia for 16 months & I believe I it got from the immunotherapy drug keytruda (pembrolizumab).
I hope this information is helpful to you.
My wife was taking it for Ovarian Cancer. Unfortunately it did not seem to have any effect and she was put on Anastrozole. She had some pigment discoloration with the Letrozole.
no it hasn't. I don't know where it is coming from - urethra or vagina. It's been 21 days now:( Had an MRI the other day and am anxiously awaiting the results. In the meantime, no one at the cancer agency (oncologist or GYN, hasn't provided any relief or direction as to what I should do.
I've heard that discoloration is one of the side fx. I'm sorry that the Letrozole hadn't had the desired effect. My oncologist thinks it won't do much for me either. I've also read that it is effective for 9% of the patients who take it:( My onc. decided that I try it out and then revisit the situation once I've finished my prescription.
I'm not that hopeful.
