Welcome @jjhack, I'm not a doctor but I don't think swelling in the leg is normal and definitely should be evaluated by a doctor in case it's something serious. Is there a lot of pain or redness near the joint along with the swelling? Have you seen a doctor about the swelling?
if you have a temperature then yes you should see a doctor immediately. You didn’t say how far out you were from your surgery, which would tell us whether you should be concerned or not. I had extreme swelling for three months on the first hip replacement. It was normal. But having a temperature is not See your doctor immediately. It’s an indication of a dangerous infection if you have a temperature and you shouldn’t mess around with wasting time. All doctors in surgeons offices encourage you to phone when you have a temperature. If you have no temperature, then you can take your swelling in the normal course of things and inquire to your doctors office anyway. Again, the timeframe away from your surgery is missing here. But any temperature should be attended to immediately.
