leg braces to help with peripheral neuropathy

Posted by rrr1 @rrr1, 2 days ago

Have leg and feet neuropathy tested for it for 4 yrs looking for a leg and maybe foot brace. Use a rollator for limited walking due to pain and numbness and balance issues. Also have lower back pain due to arthritis tryed Tems device did not work looking for a good wearable massage belt style. Any names of units and braces that work for you.

Perhaps you can talk with your doctor and see if ankle foot orthotics would be of help. In 2021, I was prescribed ankle foot orthotics (AFO's) due to drop foot and balance issues and my insurance covered the cost. Very helpful.

Hi, rrr1..... You can find AFOs made of durable polystyrene on Amazon for about $40 each. I have tried them and they DO, in MY case, add more stability and help with balance. Plus, the nice thing is, if you go through Amazon and try them for a few days and they DON'T help you, you can return them for a refund. Here is a link if you are interested in trying: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=afo+foot+brace&hvadid=693735003499&hvdev=c&hvexpln=67&hvlocphy=9005549&hvnetw=g&hvocijid=14065763293736893147--&hvqmt=b&hvrand=14065763293736893147&hvtargid=kwd-2501720427&hydadcr=21850_13401802&mcid=d8465348966f36fabe1d468c75b992b1&tag=googhydr-20&ref=pd_sl_9moonb2hwo_b_p67
By the way, I have NOT been diagnosed with foot drop. But my neuropathy definitely affects my balance. These help ME.... they may or may not do the same for you. Best wishes! Mike

Sorry the link would not open. That may not be allowed here on the forum. But that sounds exactly like it, Milo. I hope you will find it helpful. I also have some that are made of metal that I bought used on Ebay.... and they are both helpful with balance. Honestly, I can tell little difference between the metal ones (that are much more expensive if you go through a medical equipment place) and the ones I purchased on Amazon. Your mileage may vary. Please let us know what you think when you have tried it. Best regards!! Mike

Hello again, Milo. I remove the insole from my shoe and insert the AFO, then put the insole back in on top of it.

Hi Mike @domiha and @rrr1, The link opens for me and I see the list of AFOs. If it doesn't open for you, you could just go to Amazon.com and type in the search Mike did - "afo foot brace".
