Learn About NETs and monthly meetings

Posted by Teresa, Volunteer Mentor @hopeful33250, Nov 15, 2021

There are many opportunities to learn more about this very elusive and hard-to-diagnose disorder called Neuroendocrine Tumors (NETs)/Carcinoids. When a new learning opportunity becomes available it will be posted here.

Interested in more discussions like this? Go to the Neuroendocrine Tumors (NETs) Support Group.

The meeting and presentation yesterday was so very helpful and informative! Even in the introductions, I learned a lot about other people and their cancers, treatments and crooked and divergent paths of their journey with NETs. There were patients and caregivers present and participating which was also helpful because we heard different perspectives and questions. This was all so important to me and my husband as we listened and learned. Thank you.

Not getting monthly email invites so I can attend the Zoom group. Help. It is tonight again and still no invite so I can get in.

Teresa, thank you for the invite. I am on the site as a spouse. I have learned so much here! My husband had a distal pancreatectomy and splenectomy for on 1/23/23. His recovery has been atypical, so much so that I hesitate to share it for fear of raising other’s anxiety for their own journey. Complicating the issue is that he is not one who wants to talk about it, or likes it when I do!

I understand, @ssimpson316. If he has a change of mind regarding you joining the Zoom group, please do so. We have many family members who are part of the group, since they have a family member with NETs. If you choose to not participate in the meeting, it may be helpful to just listen to the guest speaker and listen to what the other members have to say.

It is, of course, your decision.

Hi - i am interested in participating in the next zoom call. Is there any way to sign up in advance? I tried to keep a lookout for the May call but missed the sign up notice. Thanks

Hi @mgb20,

I'm not sure if there is a way to register in advance, however, the meeting is always on the first Thursday of the month. You might try putting in on your calendar (phone or computer calendar) and set a notification. Then you can go to NETs discussion group and find the registration link.

Give that a try for the June meeting.
