Large Arthritic Bunion- need info

Hello, I have a very large bunion right foot for some time. I was seen recently by a surgeons PA. On xray I have Hallux Rigidus Grade#3 (arthritis of of the big toe joint). I was offered 1 option "fusion of the big toe". I have in the past used custom orthotics, shoes with a maximum of 1 inch. Walking is very painful. I am concerned with limitation post op. I am interested in input from those with the same diagnosis and those who have had joint fusion. Any information is greatly appreciated.
