Lanrotide & PRRT: Blood sugar and gluten
My 29 son has a grade 3 PNET and Liver METS. He receives monthly Lanrotide which causes wild blood sugar highs and rapid lows. He had to fight to get a prescription grade blood sugar monitor, but now he can keep it in check (walking when it is high, sugar as it goes low). He also went gluten free and the 5/day diarreah stopped. Others might want to try those things.
On PRRT he is able to do considerable exercise after the first week.

I take octreotide injections and get inappropriate huge blood sugar spikes anytime I eat anything other than pure protein. Then back to normal in an hour. My endocrinologist says it’s a crazy pattern but has seen it with other octreotide patients. I used the freestyle libre monitor a few times but after two in a row that weren’t even close to accurate I stopped since $75/month. Which monitor does your son use? I recently changed to a whole foods diet and want to monitor again to see if it’s helping. Thanks for the tip that walking brings down the blood sugar. I walk every day but not every time I eat. Best wishes for your son.
