Insurance companies see ADT and automatically assume bone loss, poor candidate…Denied!!
You probably need proof submitted by your orthopedist that bone scan densities are normal.
The problem with any replacement is that the germs go to the weakest part of the body, and a replacement is the weakest. I just had a dentist cleaning on Thursday and had to take 4 amoxicillin 1 hour prior to my appointment. I have to do that for the next 2 years.

When I had my knee replaced six years ago, they also had me take antibiotics every time I went to the dentist.
After I had my hip replaced in September 2023, 4 years later, my orthopedist said that I didn’t need to take antibiotics. They actually didn’t find them useful anymore. Had my knee done in March 24, and same thing with antibiotics.
I'm scheduled for knee replacement in late June. Had a hip done last May. High PSA 7.67 and MRI led to biopsy this winter--2 cores positive 3+3 and 3+4, decipher .45. My urologist and I are doing active surveillance now. He says I am clear to have knee replacement, but I haven't had that discussion with the ortho surgeon. I guess I'll find out at my next pre-op appt.

I had my knee replaced last March and was on Orgovyx and Darolutamide. I was 76.
Had my hip replaced the previous September, was on Lupron for over seven years, same drug as Eligard.
I did have to get off the blood thinner I was on 3 days earlier.
Is there a problem with your white Blood cell counts? Or another blood test result?
You may want to find yourself a different opthopedist if you are otherwise healthy.
PA questioned his meds. Meet with surgeon next week....maybe ADT will not be a concern for her. Not on any blood thinner as of last week.
Off blood thinner as of last week. Glad to hear others had orthopedic surgeries while on ADT

I had a knee replaced last September. I’m not a doctor but could the concern be the risk of infection? Just a thought. Good luck.
Oh good point, maybe ADT lower your immune system.

Good to know...thanks...less meds, the better
