Knee pain
Hi, a couple of months ago I tried a redlight therapy treatment with a vibrating plate at the gym. Total Body Enhancement machines utilize red light therapy, combined with vibration, to potentially aid in muscle recovery, skin health, and overall wellness. The vibrating plate is supposed to tone you. It said not to lock knees so i kept them bent. Since then I have pain in my knees and I am trying to baby them. I haven't gone to the doctor yet because I am seeing if they will heal on their own first. I do feel like they are swollen a bit, especially when I bend my legs. I am 56, athletic although overweight. Im wondering if the extra weight combinced with the shaking did something. But what??? Does anyone have any suggestions for me to try before I head to a doctor. My friends husband who is a podiatrist bastically said I damanged soft tissue and it will take time to heal.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for that. I'll suggest to my pt. I don't have pain in my knee. I have had swelling under the knee and down to the foot. So far all has subsided. Even drove from IL to Buffalo with no problem. Still trying to figure out the paralysis events in my upper thighs.
Melissa123, If you have fluid from inflammation in doing this in your knees, you can get them aspirated
by a specialist without getting a cortisone injection. It helps a lot and you can move your knees better.
If your knee is puffy on the outside of each knee and if feels like you have inner tubes around them,
chances are you have fluid.

It does sound like you may have irritated soft tissues/joints/nerves in your knees. Are you trying icing, compressions and elevation in addition to resting? Have you tried putting lidocaine patches or roll-on and/or Voltaren gel (topical for inflammation) on your knees?
@melissa123
Another thought is you irritated soft tissues/nerves/joints in hips/pelvis and/or low back which can affect legs/knees, too. Try the topicals first on knees and then try on low back and gluteal muscles/hips to see if that helps any. I have bilateral gluteal tendinopathy and bilateral high grade partial hamstring tears that were diagnosed with MRI. It took a long time for this to heal due to injured tendons and my knees have been affected as a result of weakness in hips/legs. Cortisone injections are an option if they detect inflammation in your knees or hips via ultrasound/MRI.
No I haven't really tried much except resting but I still don't know if I am resting enough. Do you think icing after 2 months is still helpful? i will look into the gel
I already have enough back issues! lol. I do belive this the injury is in my knees this time though
@melissa123
You may want to use heat since it has been a couple months. Ice is usually good the first few days after injury.
I have spine, hip and knee issues and believe alignment, posture and body mechanic issues (have had lumbar and cervical spine fusion surgery) can impact all 3. An injury to one area can domino to cause issues elsewhere.
Hope you get some relief soon!
I’ve had some severe problems with my knees and I did go see the doctor at the MRIs and all that stuff but during all this process, I went to Physical therapy who recommended also the 15 minute rule only stay up for 15 minutes at a time and then sit and relax for three minutes hour or so Try that along with the ice heat therapy
