Keflex and PN

Posted by jan64 @jan64, Oct 8 7:50am

I am wondering if Keflex could have started my PN. I had IV Keflex for an infection in my thumbnail and then ten days of oral. My symptoms started not long after that ordeal. I also had to finish the ten days of Bactim that I had started with my PC (that did not appear to be working). The hand surgeon told me to finish that first course of antibiotics as well. I had thumb nail removed, nail bed repair, and it took 8 weeks of wound care. It appears I need to now have the deformed nail removed and the matrix destroyed. I dread even this simple surgery since the neurologist said that it may have been what started my PN. He also thinks that it could be centralization syndrome? At any rate, I go to hand surgeon today. My PN was rapid onset and keeps progressing. I have redness when I wake in the morning where there is tightness that seems to mostly disappear hours later. Does anyone have that symptom? Also, I am taking 3 months off of my 20 mg rosuvastatin to see if it improves.

Hello @jan64, Hoping other members with Keflex are able to respond to your question. I didn't see any direct links with Keflex and peripheral neuropathy but did find an article on the topic that has a list of drugs that may cause PN.
