Just started Ativan, 1mg at night, Zoloft 25 mg in morning
Experienced breathing difficulty, general brain confusion eg, counting money. Made a bad choice in my car and scratched pretty bad. Will these mitigate? Went off Mertazapine because it only gave me 4-41/2 hrs. sleep and was still very anxious.

I only took 4 Mirtazapine pills. Woke up on day 4 with a full blown panic attack. Had to take an Ativan. Called provider and she was very annoyed when I told her I didn’t think this medication was right for me. She then said I should be checked for dementia and think about checking myself into a lock down psychiatric mental hospital! I also suffer from insomnia and have not had any help in resolving this issue other than being prescribed Ativan which no longer works for me.
I took Mirtazapine for 2 months and it was 2 months too long, I’ve tried numerous medications with the doctor’s help but I never got more messed up with anything else like I did with this medication. I stopped sleeping properly within the first couple of days, nightmares were so bad and that was just the beginning…next came the cramps in my feet, legs and arms. I contacted my doctor and he told me via his secretary that I should try to keep going because it would settle down, it never did…I really don’t want to say that it’s a bad drug, just bad for me. I weaned myself off them without any help and I still have residual symptoms for several more months. I’m happy to live in a time where we have lots of help with our problems but sometimes the medications can be worse than the ailments you’re treating.
Were you prescribed a different med to replace the Mirtazapine? I was only thinking of retrying it again as it can cause weight gain and I have lost a tremendous amount of weight from the Effexor, Lexapro and Celexa. I need to gain weight but still have no appetite. I have a lot of “fear’ in the mornings.
The mirtazapine wasn’t giving me enough sleep. It also seemed to have minimal effect on anxiety/depression as I think they go hand in hand in my case.
Yes, trying Zoloft
I tried Zoloft but had weird sensations in my head.
Give it time. It takes 6 weeks to start working. Add Wellbutrin as well.
If not Zoloft there are many more SSRI’s that you might tolerate better.
Each individuals body chemistry is different.
Good luck.
Happened to me too. I went off the Zoloft and on a low dose of Prozac. I’ll wean off that over the next few months.
Thank you. Meeting with Dr tomorrow.
When i was on mirtazepine 30 mg, my appetite really started to improve. IT was great! But about 6 mos later I began having side effects and had to d/c taking it. Remeron is worth a try. Good luck!!!!
