Joint fusion surgery for hallux rigidus

Has anyone ever had joint fusion surgery for hallux rigidus with a permanent knee contracture on the same side? I wouldn’t be able to use a knee scooter for recovery because of the knee contracture; would have to use crutches. I’ve heard using the crutches to support my weight for the recovery would be difficult.
