Jiffy knee replacement
Has anyone heard about Jiffy Knee Replacement? It was invented by a Dr. Patel in Virginia. Supposedly they don't cut your femur or ligaments. Any knowledge would be beneficial. Here in Las Vegas, a Dr. McGee does them and the recovery is short and no need for pain meds. Thanks, Diana

Sounds like you know the basic concept of the JK approach. They go under the vastus medialis muscle rather than cutting it to gain access to the knee capsule. I believe they have a proprietary surgical instrument as well. They have a Facebook page where you can read patient personal experiences with it.
I am exploring this as well. I have an appointment at Duke University sports medicine this morning and although there are currently no NC surgeons listed as trained in this method, I will talk to my doc at Duke.
Has anyone looked at how this compares to the Mako Robotic Knee by Stryker, where the knee is custom made for your body using 3D imaging? I haven't used it (yet) but my friends who have done it loved it. Especially those who had one traditional replacement followed years later by the new technology on the other leg.
See above
Does any have experience with the CORI method? It is involves robotics too. The surgeon who did the tkr on my left knee is now using it. Thanks in advance.
I see that other surgeons in our system are using the ROSA system.
Had my hyaluronic acid injection on my knee at Duke. I asked the doc about jiffy knee and he looked at me as though I'd ask if jiffy lube would work for my knee. He ha not heard of it.
Ha Ha! I've read about the different ways TKR is done, and Jiffy Knee is (to me) just basically 'minimally invasive'. There are many surgeons that do minimally invasive, and if they don't, I personally feel that they are just used to doing it the traditional way and don't want to learn the other ways that are being done...So maybe just find a surgeon that does minimally invasive, which means no cutting through the quad tendon and muscles and a smaller incision! Good luck!
Interested in your comment - I’m in eastern NC, hour east of Raleigh. Just diagnosed at age 75 with bone on bone OA in left knee. Seeing an ortho in my town this week, but wondered about going to Duke.
I live in Moore county. I have nothing but good things to say about Duke sports medicine. They were wonderful.
I am actually in Harnett County and do most of my stuff up at Pinehurst Surgical My knee is just finally starting to feel better at 2 years. While my surgeon did a good job he was done with me after the surgery and every time I went in complaining I felt like he passed me off especially when he said some people have pain the rest of their lives. That is not an option. Duke is amazing
