J tube question

I have a j tube. Weaning off nutrition and starting foods but I now experience severe abdominal pain periodically. I wonder if it is j tube related. My surgeons say it hasn’t moved and should not cause abdominal pain. It is sore all the time but periodically is crippling. If I can lay down for an hour or so the extreme pain subsides. I’m hoping to remove J tube soon it’s been in two months. I have stopped feedings for one week. Up to stopping feedings I had steady weight. I’m now dropping a few pounds.
The pains become severe a few hours after eating usually.

Hi just wondering if you are still flushing your j tube even though you’re not using it. I would continue flushing make sure it’s not getting clogged. Also how much food intake your eating might affect your stomach also. Have you talked to your nutritionist they may be able to help. Hope this helps wishing you the best. Scott

Maybe you need to work with a nutritionist maybe there's foods that you're eating that are causing stomach or colon pain. I'm sure you must know that cruciferous vegetables are out or citrus foods are out. Sugar is out when I weaned off the J tube. I used something called liquid hope which worked well both in my feeding tube and I could eat it right from the bag or I could heat it up you can get it on Amazon. I even got my insurance company to OK it after three appeals and the same company makes a food called nourish which comes in flavors like fruit flavors, but you have to be very careful not to eat citrus foods which will give you a lot of trouble after an esophagectomy I hope this helps you. There are support groups on Facebook for people that have had esophagectomy. Maybe you need a mentor someone who's had the experience and knows what foods are not good. Try to find the Facebook support groups for esophagectomy patients. it's very very helpful. I hope this has helped you and I'm sorry for your pain and I hope that you can find something that will not cause you that kind of pain naomi shapiro

My g-tube pain was excruciating to the point I had difficulty getting up or down. Turned out to be muscle spasm caused by tube collar too tight to my skin which the nurse said can cause muscle spasm. Possibly your tube collar is too tight?

Thank you.
Everyone assured me no way it was tube. But finally got surgeon to remove it two days ago and as he pulled it I passed out from that severe spasm and the moment it was out NO PAIN! I suffered non stop excruciating pain for over two weeks. They said. They never had seen that but believed me finally.

I had pain too when I started eating after removing tube but it was mostly because I ate too much. Try to eat smaller meals and see if that will help. I am post op one year now and I am doing three to four meals a day and eating EVERYTHING.

Thankfully my life is back to normal now but recovery was drawn out and not always easy
