Is deep tissue massage a reasonable option?

I have been recommended by the PAIN clinic for two alternative therapies, steep tissue massage and also acupuncture. I would like to share any experiences any of you have had

I have lots of spasticity. I did deep tissue massage and electro acupuncture for years. One thing I’ve learned is that’s it’s very operator dependent, so don’t be afraid to try multiple practioners. Of note, I only got 2-3 hours of relief from massage. I was busy working and had small children at the time and 3 hours of relief was definitely worth it.

Electro acupuncture worked great for the spasticity in my neck and shoulders. It did nothing for my back

I think everyone reacts differently. Except for the time commitment and expense, I know of no down sides

I have lumbar stenosis and have had deep tissue massage that concentrated on my right leg and buttocks, hip area and pelvis. It felt fine, but I was in even more pain than usual for a day or two afterward. Then I had some relief, but it lasted only a few days.

Hello,
I have had wonderful experiences with acupuncture and I see my acupuncturist every two weeks he’s phenomenal. I live in Northern California and he has been so helpful with my lower back pain, which is chronic and reducing stress. I have had several massage therapist, but you have to be so careful as sometimes if they don’t understand The importance and how to care for somebody with osteoporosis it can be damaging or the reversed effects of relaxation after you do receive a massage. It is best to soak in an Epson salt bath with at least 2 cups of Epsom salt. It draws out any soreness and any toxins that may have been released during the massage process. This is a very important step not to be missed and drinking plenty of water before during and after the massage has been extremely beneficial to me I hope this helps wishing you tremendous health.

Thank you! I get massages but haven't heard about soaking in Epsom salt after, that is interesting. Should the water be hot? warm? cold? Also, I've not tried an acupuncturist but have been curious. You're lucky to have found a good one!
