Invasive carcinoma of no special type (duct Al)

Posted by restless1763 @restless1763, Jun 6 11:42am

In 2002 I had a RB lumpectomy for triple negative breast cancer, 6 rounds of chemo plus 30 rounds of radiation. In 2020 I had Whipple surgery for an ampullary adenocarcinoma with 6 months of chemo and in 2023 a left lung lobectomy for adenocarcinoma caught early, all primary cancers. During routine cancer follow ups I had a recent mammogram and needle biopsy for micro calcifications. The biopsy results show overall grade 2 IBC of no special type. I’m waiting to see a doctor to determine next steps and wondering if anyone has any experience with this type of cancer. I am overwhelmed at this new diagnosis as my body has been through a lot but I do not want to give up hope for another recovery. A recent MRI for lung, thoracic and stomach area showed no concerns.

This does indeed sound very overwhelming. When is your appointment? With an oncologist? Please check in, if you feel like it, when you know more.

I will, the pathology report has been posted to MyChart (I’m in Canada) so it was available to me but my GP does not yet have the report. If I don’t hear by Monday I’ll print out and deliver it to her office. Waiting is always the hardest part.

Waiting is indeed the worst part of findings. I like to try and distract myself as much as possible.
I am also a planner so I plan for best and worst.
Worst being chemo and radiation or surgeries. I will plan for getting the most informed I can be.
Best being never mind this was really nothing. A celebration of fruit smoothies and a day at the park.
The reality usually falls in between. Now I have a plan, I can sit back and wait a little easier.
Do you have ways to trick your brain? Any news.

I finally heard from my GP yesterday who is forwarding results to the breast assessment centre at the same hospital I’m being followed up for previous cancers, and the same oncologist I’ve been seeing. Hopefully I’ll hear from them within a week. Seems the biopsy results never arrived at the GP clinic so I gave them a copy.

And to answer your second question I find planning for the worst outcome generally helps. By the time I see the doctor I’ve planned how I’m going to deal with the next 6 months so no surprises. I also listen to hypnosis tapes/apps when I go to bed and they help my mindset. And I try to keep busy.
