Internal body vibrations all night

Posted by cst @cst, May 11 2:17pm

My entire body started vibrating internally 3 months ago (Feb 2024) at night. I take 300-600 mg gabapentin each night and it helps some. I’ve been blessed with incredible health my entire life, although I have had some neck problems (stenosis) recently, starting in Dec 2023; two TFESIs made it better. I am 59 yo and recent Air Force retire. I am fairly certain I don’t have any underlying conditions (diabetes, autoimmune, HIV, Lyme, etc). Rheumatologist doesn’t think I have autoimmune; getting a second opinion soon. Neurologist “can’t rule out SFN” so I just gave blood and have a nerve conduction test scheduled.

Q: Anybody have similar experience with internal vibrations all night long?
Sometimes I can feel them somewhat during day. If so, please share your experience.

Yes!I have been ill for over 2 years and that is one of my symptoms along with many more. The internal vibrating along with heart palpitations and weird breathing occurs at nighttime so I am guessing it is something with the central nervous system.I have been to every specialist you can imagine and no one knows.Did you happen to get covid?I believe alot of these weird symptoms are from long covid.Long Covid mimics so many diseases including alot of autoimmune.

Yes, nerves are my problem too. It is doing sometimes related to my blood pressure or Atrial Fibrillation!

Yes, I had a mild case of Covid on Jan 1, 2022 (happy new year!). Missed one day of work (I was able to work from home). Had the Moderna vaccination, no booster. I am at a loss as to the cause. I’ve always had a good diet, always exercised, sleep well and don’t stress much. I agree with what you are saying about long covid but since it was super mild for me, and has been over 2 years, I would be surprised if that’s it.

I exercised all of the time, ate right, did not smoke or drink and now I can barely walk and I am in my 40's.I just had the Pfizer and no boosters. You can have a mild case of covid and still end up with long covid.Neurologists and other specialists I have gone to have not found anything. The only thing I can think of is covid.I went to the Beach and was at a house that guests in it before we got there.Apparently they were all sick with covid so it was probably just sitting in the house before we got there and we had no idea.I have talked to so many people with long covid symptoms that tell me the doctors won't be able to help because they won't be able to find anything. That is what I have found so far.It is frustrating.

Sadly I know a few people with long covid; they are frustrated as well. Good luck in your search for answers.

I am on 300 gaba. I had nerve conduction snd told I have sfn. I feel a bit of vibration in my upper back, the only place at this point, the gaba helps with that. Investigating now for autoimmune.

Nerve conduction will determine if a person has SFN?

I have the same feeling at night but not every night. I am one year post op. L-4-5 decompressions for spinal stenosis. Diagnosis was neurogenic claudication affecting hips bilaterally. No improvement.
My neurologist suggested checking for atrial fib. Will do soon.

Do you take Gabapentin by chance?

I don't have vibration but when I lie down at night I hear a drumming noise like when rain water hits my AC which is outside my bedroom window. If I get out of bed the sound is gone. I've done some reading and it seems it may be a form of tinnitus. Does tinnitus go hand in hand with neuropathy and/or taking Gabapentin
