Infection of biliary stent from tumor growth

Has anyone with a biliary stent in the CBD experienced infections from the tumor growth plugging up the stent? My husband was diagnosed with locally advanced unresectable PC in January 2024 after becoming jaundiced from a blocked CBD. He had a temporary plastic stent put in, then replaced with a metal mesh stent in April. He experienced 2 infections in July and August from the stent plugging up with tumor debris. The GI surgeon mentioned doing an RAF procedure to cauterize and prevent future pluggage. Has anyone had experience with this procedure?
