Anyone deal with hemorrhoids after (intensity-modulated radiation)?

Posted by wsx @wsx, Jun 10 12:01pm

Three months after 28 runs of IMRT, I felt the symptoms of hemorrhoids: rectum falling and pain, urine in the bladder or stool in the rectum, the symptoms are aggravated. Does anyone have a similar experience? And how to deal with it?

@wsx, I'm bringing in fellow members @merwether @dave1957 @ozelli who also experienced hemorrhoids as a result of radiation. You may also be interested in this related discussion:

Did you talk to a symptom management nurse about your symptoms?

I had problems with hemorrhoids several years ago but rarely experienced issues in recent years (perhaps because of dietary changes ). Before I sought proton treatment for prostate cancer early this year I asked if radiation might aggravate the problem again. Fortunately, I have not experienced any issues since treatment ended nearly three months ago.

Thanks.

According to the Urology Dr. there is a blood clot inside the prostate caused the pain.
The main treatment is heat compresses and painkillers. I tried Hydrocortisone and it didn't work.
I think the prostate shrinks under ADT and radiotherapy, and blood circulation is poor. The treatment time may be longer before the blood clots are absorbed.
