I use for my knees Voltaren 2% ointment which helps me. The 1% I do not recommend since it does nothing for me.
Limiting sugar intake has helped me. Some days I have lots of pain too. I started taking Aleve for a couple of days - not often just when I need to settle the pain down and it seemed to work. Worth a try.
Have you tried physical therapy? There is also an herbal gel called arnica that is both an an anti-inflammatory and pain reliever. It also helps muscle stiffness. Hydro therapy helps me a lot also
I am 74 yrs old and have both osteo and rheumatoid arthritis. Tramadol has been a lifesaver for me. Usually during the day I take 25mg about every 7 or 8 hrs, then 50mg at bedtime with no adverse side effects. Best wishes to you!
Thank you I haven’t found any women has the same situation as I have. I don’t know if I take aspirin. I get sleepy so all of that they gave me that gabapentin and that really knocks me out. I don’t know what to do. I mean I sleep all day I have to get up. I want to find out someway to get rid of this. I was thinking maybe swim somewhere. I can’t walk because going upstairs hurts. I don’t know what to do. We can talk to each other if you’re feeling it.
besides taking pain meds, what else do you do? I don’t think I have rheumatoid arthritis. I have osteoarthritis.
Regardless of the source of the pain, my intent was to address the pain issue. Aside from Tramadol, I use Voltaren and arnica cream which are both helpful but can get expensive when you need to use it frequently. Tramadol is inexpensive.
Heat therapy has helped me. I go in the jacuzzi or the sauna for 20 minutes and it loosen up the joints and reduced the pain. Then I try to stay active throughout the day.
I use Voltaren (1%) arthritis pain gel and Salonpas gel patches. Amazingly helpful for minimizing pain.
I wish I had a magic answer for you; I know how exasperating and frustrating all this is. I can't walk much currently because I'm still recovering from spraining my ankle. I can't swim laps due to arthritis in my shoulders but I sit on a noodle and "bicycle" around as well as gentle "jogging" around the shallow end of the pool. I'm going to try chair yoga soon. I learned that refined sugar makes my pain worse so I've 97% eliminated it from my diet. I eat unsweetened yogurt and sweeten it with maple syrup. I've also eliminated dairy, red meat, fried foods and nightshade vegetables - basically an anti-inflammatory diet that works well.
