Ice packs on feet during chemotherapy infusion?

A friend (nurse) who also has gone through cancer said it was recommended she ice (off and on) her feet during infusions, to curb the neuropathy side effect.
Has anyone else been told this or gone through this, your experience?

I've heard it reduces the blood flow to the feet and hands to reduce neuropathy and to the scalp to preserve your hair.
