I need a hip replacement and looking for a surgeon!

Posted by rainerhans @rainerhans, 2 days ago

I live in Naples, close to Marco Island and need a hip replacement do to bone on bone diagnosis by X rays.
As I had a knee replacement a year ago, that wasn’t very successful, I am scared right now.
I would be very thankful for any recommendation where to get professional help.
Thank you in advance

I can understand if one joint replacement was not what you expected, it is hard to prepare for another joint replacement. Hopefully other members will give you feedback on their experience with different surgeons.

If interested in Mayo Clinic Jacksonville. You can submit an appointment request online at http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63 , you will receive a call within 3 business days to set up a time to talk with an appointment coordinator. You will be given instructions on how to submit relevant medical records, test results, imaging studies, etc. Mayo Clinic doctors review records sent by you or the referring physician in order to ensure the patient is scheduled with a provider who has the expertise that best match to your needs and condition. Appointments are based on your medical condition, urgency and available appointments. The appointment coordinator will also verify your insurance is accepted at Mayo Jacksonville.

If you are willing to travel, my surgeon is the primary inventor of the Superpath method of hip replacement. He did mine about three years ago and I had no post surgery pain [in case you think it was pure coincidence, he did my right knee 27 days ago and not only have I had no meaningful post surgery pain, I am heading to the golf course in a couple of hours]. He has an international practice:

Back from the golf course. In Arizona golf courses "overseed" the fairways. That is they plant new winter grass over the traditional summer type grass. Golf courses close for three weeks while they do this and the grass settles in and they don't allow anyone to drive out for the first few weeks...even folks that they would ordinarily consider handicapped.
So I had to keep the golf cart on the cart path and walk back and forth to my balls in the fairway. After nine months of pain and suffering and the surgery 28 days ago, I felt I could do it. I played 17 holes skipping #12 which was a particularly bad hole for someone having to stay on the cart path.
I didn't play especially well but I felt stable for the first time in almost a year.
Back in PT today with the Marquis de Sade and the golf course again on Thursday.
