I had a T3-T5 laminectomy and fusion beginning of July - it is ugly. The "recovery" just plateaus and was left with restricted mobility, a crevice in my back where my spine used to be, ongoing endless pain, feeling like there is a lump of cement is in my back and an inability to lie on my back.

Hi Sarah!
Wow, you've been through the ringer once and now it's time for round 2. I wish you all the best and pray you have a good outcome.
I am only fused at four levels, C3, C4, C5, and C6. I have about 3 months left of physical therapy. Originally, I was going to have my C2 to my C7 done, but my surgeon opted to leave the C2 and C7 alone in favor of giving me better mobility and range of motion. Apparently, you do not have that option, so your team is recommending what they feel will help you the most.
Please keep us posted on your progress.
