I am learning about the thyroid, lymph nodes and more
I am 72 years old and have thyroid cancer. I am post TT and will undergo radiation and chemo in a month.
I am writing, because my knowledge of human anatomy is very high level. My body works and I try to care for myself, but this diagnosis made my realize how clueless I am.
There are terrific resources on youtube.
"Mayo Clinic explains thyroid cancer" is one. There are other Mayo Clinic resources.
I look forward to each day, and I live life. And, I learn as much as I can from experts.

@kmlnj, having already had a total thyroidectomy (TT), what tip would you give to someone preparing to have the surgery? What do you wish you had known?
The advice I would give others may be difficult to hear. Listen to your
doctors, not people who are not doctors. When I tell people I have
thyroid cancer, most are dismissive- the easy cancer. Well, cancer is
cancer and mine was and is outside the thyroid. The surgeon was serious
and very concerned. Therefore, I have not thought this will be easy.
And the difficult journey is ahead, 6 weeks of radiation with chemo
"accelerant".
I count my blessings. I pray a lot. I enjoy the company of my family and
my guy. One day at a time.
I found books on Amazon about radiation treatment, written by radiation
nurses. I will read them in January.
Healing vibes sent here to all.
I second what @kmlnj said above. I've encountered similar experiences, you need to stay true to working with your doctors so that you know you're doing the right thing for you and the best care path for you.
