Hyperbaric treatment to help with recovery
I had my last proton theraphy in December of 2023. I have been doing o.k. No side effects, except ED. I urinated blood clots on March 5,2025 and yesterday I had a Cystoscopy to rule out problems. The only issue was that my urologist found that my prostate was very irritated and that was the caused of the blood clots in my urine. He said that I should have Hyperbaric treatment to help with the recovery.
I would like to know if any body had this treatment before.
Thank you,
George

I had hyperbaric treatments for bleeding in a different area. It works so slowly. But I think it is good for the entire body, anti inflammatory all over. I quit with Covid because the tank I was in seated six. And their hepa filters kept slipping off the vents. I hope it helps you
Interestingly enough, there was a presentation on this by one of the nurses at Mayo in Rochester. I just happened to listen in (Zoom). That was last month on Feb. 12th. I don't recall if it was recorded and I don't readily see any indication that it was recorded.
Here's a link (from Mayo) on general information -

Biggest take away is that you want to go to a reputable provider for this. There was a terrible accident at one provider that was definitely not qualified.
Otherwise - if you're in a group chamber - it seems like you're on one of those submarine tours in Hawaii or the Caribbean ; i.e. not invasive nor uncomfortable.
I have heard it can be effective.
About a year after completing my 40 sessions of radiation therapy, I experienced blood in the urine. It turned out that the radiation damaged my bladder and rectum, and the only way to treat and stop the internal bleeding was oxygen therapy. Fortunately, there was a Wound Center at a hospital 10 minutes from where I live, and I was given 40 sessions of oxygen in a hyperbaric chamber (one person only). It eventually cured the bleeding. One side effect from this treatment, as the doctor at the Wound Center advised me, was vision was going to be affected. He was right; I needed to change my eyeglass prescription 6 months after completing the oxygen therapy. Otherwise, I recommend it if you are having any internal bleeding.
I took 68 HBO treatments after radiation cystitis diagnosis and bladder neck bleeding and fistulas. We figured it may have helped healing but to no avail as 5 months later and another surgery ( unsuccessful ) to repair -the area failed. Decision for cystecomy / ileal conduit followed. 3 weeks post surgery healing now. HBOT can and will work in many situations and is worth the step. I do have vision issues 6 months post treatment. Several vision tests completed changing prescription. Al
