How to decide to get only a partial total knee replacement?

I have a small spot of bob on bone in my left knee, and it gives me sharp shots of pain when I'm walking.
How does one decide to get a partial knee replacement versus a TKR? I'm 77 years old, 182 lbs., male.
My knee pain orthopedic doctor said in general I'd be a candidate for it, but she does not do those surgeries.
She just finished giving me a set of 3 injections of hyaluronic acid gel in each knee, although the bone problem is just with my left knee. Thx!

I always feel like less metal in my body is better if it’s an option. I had a partial left knee 2 years ago and have no problems. I wore out the inside of my knee from pitching for about 45 years with a sidearm delivery that had me twisting the knee after my foot planted. Therefore, I felt the outside of my knee wouldn’t be a problem because I had a specific problem as the cause. I was 55 when I decided to get it. Plus I have 2 metal resurfaced hips at ages 42 & 48.

Get the best surgeon you can and go by his judgment. If a partial can be done, it is generally preferable.
