How long can you wait after stopping Tymlos to start Reclast
I will finish two years of Tymlos next week and the doctor recommends Reclast. How long can you wait before getting the infusion after stopping Tymlos?
Thank you!

What does your doc say?
No timeframe was given hence my question 🙂
@jmmjml
That is very important info to discuss with your doc. Timing and sequencing are extremely important. For instance, my doc thought it was just fine to wait 3 months to begin to Prolia after the great gains I made on evenity. I ended up doing the research on that one and he ended up surveying his colleagues.

1 ReactionI have the same question. My 2 years of Tymlos ended in Oct. Dr wanted to start Prolio, I refused because of rebound risk when stopping and potential side effects. She now recommends Reclast. I guess I'll have to take it, as I don't want to lose all my gains. Does anyone have experience with any other way to maintain gains?
@vansks
If your doctor would be amenable, you can request going with a lower dose, not the 1-size-fits-all dose, as there is evidence a lower dose can be effective. There is a thread here on whether Reclast is being overdosed.
@vansks
I just started taking Tymlos. Can I ask, what type of gain did you see after two years? I get encouraged to hear of people achieving gains with Tymlos.
@ltj I'm not the person you asked, but to give you a second anecdote: I gained 15% bone density in only nine months on Tymlos. That was per my last DEXA from January. My next scan is next month, and I hope I will have further gains.

2 Reactions@jmmjml , I tried to research this, all I could find was that gains will be lost without further treatment,. I went from -3.1 right fem neck to -2.8. My Spine from -2.7 to -1.3 thanks to Tymlos (and collegen). I broke my left hip last year so it can't be measured now due to replacement hardware. I requested HRT, my Dr didn't agree. I will start Reclast once my insurance authorizes it, I've requested a low dose, they haven't commented on that yet. I fear the side effects, but I fear another broken hip more!

1 ReactionYour doctor has to prescribe the infusion. So ask their office when they are scheduling it.

1 ReactionIt's my understanding that you don't want to wait more than a few months (3). After 1 year you lose all your gains. A lot depends on if you hit your "targets" or not.
