How fast does adenocarcinoma grow??

Posted by bradthompson88 @bradthompson88, 3 days ago

In Les than a month, I went from 2.2 cm to 3.4 cm on the neck and from 7 liver metastisis to 20.

I start chemo finally next week and trial starts tomorrow. I feel like I have gotten really behind! Never imagined it would move that fast.

Is this typical??

@bradthompson88 If you did a biopsy check the report to see how defined the cancer cells are. Highly defined means aggressive and fast-growing. But you are going on chemo now so the growth will be arrested and I hope they shrink!
Metastasis on the liver is really hard to read (unless you did an MRI but even then..) so 20 could include some ‘shadows’ which may not be cancerous but are lumped in with tumours bec you already have cancer.

Much appreciated. Poorly differentiated is what the called it.

The crazy part is until yesterday, I have had zero pain since the diagnosis. Now, the back pain is showing up that I have read about.

At least no jaundice.

Your words help a lot. I’m waiting on testing of the biopsy. It was done 2 weeks ago.

Sorry; highly differentiated (not defined) means slow-growing. I gave you wrong information.

Pain cause there is growth; it happens. I got it too. Please refresh our memories on which chemo regimen you will be on.

I start with fulfirinox combo. I’m doing keytruda after photodynamic light therapy which allows me to try keytruda after the tumor has been damaged with light. Waiting for procedure to hit tumor with light right now.
Chemo starts Wednesday.

I am now discharged from Mayo. The photodynamic portion of my trial
Is over. The doctor said it altered the tumor and made it more soft(he said my tumor was very hard). I still have pain and am struggling to eat sometimes. Still need a little oxy but can go without a dose as well.

It may have been a challenge with the darkness and the pain, but if it helps, it is so worth it. Now, I am feeling very tired. Got my keytruda yesterday. Not sure if it is a side effect or if I am just tired from poor sleep at hospital.

You are probably tired from everything. Get some rest. Lots of it. Sleep well knowing that you gave it your best effort. That is all that you can ask of yourself. You live to fight another day.
