How easy is the process for a service dog?
I have some new diagnosis where I'll probably want and qualify for a service dog. Does anyone have any experience with the process and timetable?

What type service dog are you needing:
Emotional support
Medical alert?
What state are you in?

@mojo244 I'm needing a dog for both support and service. After my new diagnosis of a Celiac dissection my energy has been low, range of movement has decreased, and some times I feel like I could pass out from being overwhelmed. Then for my mental health reasons to alert and ground me. Do you have a service dog?

2 ReactionsI don’t have a service dog but I’m a working dog (military/LE/special purpose) trainer.
I’m not a “service” dog trainer per se but I have a friend in Portland Oregon that is.
What state are you in?

I don’t need (at this time, thankfully) a service dog, but I do give to several organizations which claim to train them for people. I would be interested in hearing anything that you would be comfortable sharing about the training and supply processes. Thanks. M.

1 Reaction@methel I got my service dog from an agency that trains free medical and ptsd dogs for veterans but was over a 2 1/2 wsitv
a friend of mine said your doctor can get you approved if needed or would be helpful.
i watched somewhere that a woman would match you to your dog, not everyone works together.
training thing that the dogs go thru then matched to would be vanadate's. that's all i know. hope something here helped.
@carol65
Thanks for your response. M.
@methel as I stated earlier, I am not a “service” dog trainer. However I have a friend in the Portland Oregon area who is a trainer and has a service dog.
I specialize in detection (explosives, narcotics, cadaver, toxic mold, bed bugs and other things of interest) and patrol work (tracking, area searches, bite work, protection, extraction and things related to protection) along with obedience etc.
I began training hunting dogs in 1974 and after becoming a Deputy Sheriff became a handler, trainer and currently a certifying official for 2 nationally recognized organizations.
What I can tell you about the “dog” world is that there are many scammers out there!
It’s very easy to pull the wool over the eyes of people that don’t have experience in dogs.
I watch videos of people making money detecting mold, bedbugs etc and I get so irritated to see the lack of skill.
Anyway, I’m just saying be careful who you financially support! Find the one’s doing it with passion and care.
Pm me if you’d like my friend in Oregon information, not sure if putting it on here is allowed?
