How do cancer cells spread?

Just had partial prostate removal to clear blockage. After surgery biopsy of tissue removed shows cancer. My question is does this mean as prostate was opened that the cancer cells are now spreading? Doctor says there is no way to know

I’m assuming you had a TURP procedure. As I understand the risk of prostate cancer spreading as a result of a TURP or similar procedure are low.
