How can I get a second opinion?
Hello, everyone!
My father (57 years old) was diagnosed with pancreatic adenocarcinoma with doudenal invasion in July. He had 5 sessions of Folfirinox which he tolerated well. After the 5th session he had kidney failure. After almost a month of hospitalization, kidneys values are normal. But now he is ECOG 3, some days he has diarrhea and some days he has nausea and sometimes he vomits. The CT scan showed that he does not have metastases, but also that the tumor is not smaller than it was before Folfirinkx. The oncologist said the he can no longer have folfirinox, but neither gemcitabine. Basically, he said there was nothing more we could do and recommended hospice (my father is conscious, he just stays mostly in bed). I am out of US (in Romania) and I feel isolated from others treatments.
Thank you very much!

So sorry to hear about your father. No other treatment was offered other than the folfirinox and gemcitabine? If the tumor isn't smaller, did it grow? How big is it? How was he originally diagnosed?
Thank you very much!
If he is not metastatic IMO there are other treatments available to him. Radiation? Targeted therapies? The country of Germany is known for great cancer-care. Is that an option for you? I would not give up until you have looked elsewhere.
