Is high uric acid or its medication (Allopurinol) connected to small fiber neuropathy?

Hi @nukhan, There does seem to be a connection between high levels of uric acid and peripheral neuropathy.

"High levels of uric acid (UA) are associated with various peripheral neuropathies. Furthermore, uric acid levels have been found to correlate with both the clinical and electrophysiological severity of diabetic sensorimotor polyneuropathy, mainly with sensory functions. "

How long have you been on the medication for high uric acid?

In reply to @johnbishop thank you so much for sharing the link. I will read through it thoroughly. Although my Uric Acid level has consistently been high over the last few years despite changes in diet, my physician put me on allopurinol just last week coinciding with worsening of my SFN. I am, therefore, wondering whether high uric acid could be the culprit of my SFN and Allopurinol as the contributing factor of its severity.
