Help with THR 7 weeks complete
While the first 2 1/2 weeks were
Hell everything got
Better and I thought I was on my way. Then at one month a sore
Opened up on my incision site and was infected and then another at the bottom of incision opened up. I was terrified.
No other pain fever heat ect.
I went on a double dose
Of antibiotics and they are healing and infection appears gone. So after two weeks I noticed another little one under my first one at the top has opened! There isn’t any ooze. 2 1/2 days later and now it is looking like a tiny hole. I had
Just finished my antibiotics 3
Days prior. Now I am getting some weird
Pain. NO HIP PAIN. But my knee ,
Thigh
And groin hurt. I’ve continued to
Do my PT and nothing hurts while I’m doing it but after. It’s not consistent and
I have had some good days.
In fact before I got the infection,
Those around me said I was doing great!
I do have other issues -
Chronic pain from a bad femural head break.
I had a ty rod implanted 2007 and removed in 2009, because of staph
Infection that went undiagnosed and I was ready to drive
Off a cliff. Also my body always
Hurts
Bad ALL winter. I so NEED some support that these
Pains could be just normal THR pain and NOT something worse like a bone infection. Anyone that has weird
Pain after THR let me hear PLEASE.

Sorry to hear you are having so much trouble after your THR. You should be seen by your surgeon’s team to address the pain. Yes, infection of the joint is possible, and the wound healing issues are a risk for that. Lab, X-ray, and joint aspiration are used to determine whether infection is present.
It is possible, as well, to have a fracture around the implant. Pain coming from the hip is often felt in the knee because of how the nerves run through the area. Stress fracture can be present at the time of the implant and present as pain later, even without a fall or other trauma. X-ray or CT can determine whether that is your problem.
Lastly, some folks have thigh or knee pain as the implant is healing.
Call your surgeon’s office and make an appointment. If you have fever or chills, go to the ER.
Prayers for your healing journey.
